On this date, June 28, in 1990, police in St. Charles, Missouri, raided the estate of rock and roll legend Charles Edward “Chuck” Berry. A spokesman for the raiding party said they were looking for cocaine but admitted there was no trace of the drug.
United Press International (UPI) reported the seizure of hashish, marijuana, weapons, and $122,000 in cash. The raid was the result of information from an informant who told officers where cocaine might be found once they gained entrance to Berry’s home. Berry told authorities he never used cocaine or alcohol. [source]
